update CH3Otherworld0068
Bah. Read on from last week here.

Been barely home this week. What time I’ve had I’ve been prepping for the next day’s work. Almost missed my Otherworld deadline. Sanity may return next week.

Thanks for sticking around and being patient.

Update CH3Otherworld0066
Greetings from Japan! A measly one page this week. Sorry! Read on from last week here. At least if you do it will sort of feel like reading two pages!

Yes, I did mention previously that September might get bad with updates, so here it is, the least I will do for an update, one sad little page.

Well, there’s a good reason, I’m at TGS in Japan right now, which means I haven’t had access to my computer for the week. I’m sure you can understand how that limited my bandwidth! Apologies!

Trust me, i’d have put out a lot more if it had been physically possible and if the coming weeks have slightly less updates than normal, I assure you it is simply a matter of other work ramping up and not an indication that I’m losing interest. I love drawing Otherworld, and I really can’t wait to get onto some of the cool stuff coming up. So bear with me!

I didn’t have time to put up a set of links to web comics I like again this week. So I’m just going to give you a recommendation. It’s a comic that started in 2006, and has long been finished, which is super cool, because you can enjoy the whole story.

It’s called Rice Boy by Evan Dahm. Stumbled across it this week, so I’m well behind the times! However, it looks like Evan is currently self publishing it, and I wish him all the best so if you do already know about it, nows the time to put in an order for the printed version.

There is just so much to like about Rice Boy, it’s hard not to end up turning this post into a full blown review. From the simple but almost trippily imaginative character and world design, to the fantastic writing that brings to mind the best elements of Alice in Wonderland or Spirited Away. It’s a corking story that I’m very glad I got the opportunity to read.

If you have missed this little gem. Go check it out.

Chapter 3 Pages 64-65

Update CH3Otherworld0064
A small update this week. I had a lot of things to do so only 2 pages. You can read on from last week here.

I was so far behind that I didn’t even get any of next weeks pages sketched, so instead of the usual voting incentive there is a simple bit of promotional art I did for a new ad banner. Usually it would only be 60 pixels high, but I thought it would be nice to see it in higher rez.

Normal vote incentives should resume next week. Speaking of which, thanks for all the comments on my post about Top Web Comic votes. I got some great feedback and I appreciate the time people took to post. Especially those ones who read 300 webcomics a week!

Cheers all!

Votes!

Checkout this amazing screenshot I snapped on Top Web Comics last night! (Click it to get the full expanded AWSOMENESSS!)

How cool is that? Well, it’s a bit misleading. You see, TWC resets all comic votes to 0 at midnight PST on the first day of every month so the number on the right is the number of votes:

Haha. 4.

So, massively skewed results when the voting table is so small. Still, you guys were voting like champions, because by 11am today, Otherworld was at position 16 with 91 votes. Funny thing was, I know that 391 people had been to the site. So that means that less than a quarter actually click that little vote button on the last page of each update.

I’m not complaining, because Otherworld is holding its own against comics with 10x the daily traffic. But it makes me wonder... why?

Why do you not vote?

I’m happy for your answer to be anything including “because this comic is not good enough.” I really don’t mind, but I think it would be really interesting to know.

So I’m going to ask you to help me improve this site by leaving a comment. The following are some of my guesses:

- I don’t want to see a vote incentive that spoils next week.
- I don’t think the vote incentives are good enough.
- I don’t even vote at the elections, you think I’d vote for a stupid comic?
- What vote? I don’t know what voting at Top Web Comics even is.
- Can’t be bothered.
- I’m not your freaking CLICK MONKEY!

I’m cool with any of those or any others. I love feedback, so hit me up!

If you do, maybe we can work out a better vote incentive, something more of you would like?
